Fastfood Restaurants: Truth or Dare?

In the past few decades, fast food restaurants have been showing trends in leaning towards a healthier menu. For example, salads and fruit are being provided as healthier alternatives to fries. These changes have been made in order to better the health of their consumers. They have also been known to be “heart-healthy” and “waistline friendly” which is both helpful and appealing to the average American. It seemed as though consuming fast food was not something to be worried about. However, recently it has been discovered that the alternatives being provided are equally as harmful as or even worse than the meals beforehand. Salads alone have been found to contain high levels of sugar, salt and fat, sometimes equivalent to a burger. That being said, what is your opinion on fast foods serving healthier selections? Should fast food restaurants be forced to comply with their healthy claims? Or should people just accept the health factors putting them at risk by eating fast foods? Should people be better informed about what they are ingesting?

  1. This article is very intersting to me because I'm all about eating healthy. I never eat fast food, fried food, or bad processed food. It's not shcoking that fast food restaurants are hiding that fact that "healthy food" isn't really healthy because it's a fast food restaurant for a reason. They want the "healthy" "100 calorie" chocies to seem like your actualy eating something good when you're just packing in the calories with the fattening-sugary dressings and breads. I believe people should be better informed with what they're eating. Fast food restaurants should have charts in the building with nutritional facts. Knowing what's in you food, helps you make better decions of what you want to put in your body. America is an obese country with unhealthy people. If they want to improve that statistic then they should really consider making healthier options at these restaurants and should be informed of how much sugar and fat is being digested into their bodies.
