India's Outcry
The past few months, there has been a dramatic increase of rape victims in India. This is not a secret, but is projected everyday through their news and through boastful despicable men. Both women and young girls are raped every 22 minutes and many are killed afterward. 95% of women are afraid to go out in public places in New Delhi and in most cases they lack protection to avoid this fear. The people are becoming fed up with the maltreatment and are crying out nationally for help. The government has done little to change this situation though they are working toward passing legislation to protect these women by hiring more women police officers. However that being said, the assault is still continuing to increase.I picked this article because it was eye opening for me and I want it to be eye opening for all of you as well. Here in America, women have come extremely far in being thought of as more than property to men. They hold jobs and can have their own homes. Most importantly, they are given rights that protect them and hold others that may try and harm them accountable. However, the fact of the matter is that we take all of these things for granted. These women are hurting and are crying out for assistance and no one is responding. Their own police officers are some of the ones that treat them like material the most. I cannot comprehend what these women are going through and it's almost impossible to realize that these women are living in the same world as we are. This situation must change because they deserve a life apart from fear and hate, just like we did.

I find this article to be very eye opening and shocking. The statistic that women and young gils are raped every 22 minutes is unbelievable. I really think that someone should make a stand and help these women who are in agonizing pain and scared to live in their own country. I already knew that women were treated with little disrespct in India, but I was not aware that it was this serious. I find this to be a very important article so hopefully someone will stand up and put a stop to these tragedies.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly sad what females in India are going through. It’s heart breaking and, especially in the article where it says "In a capital city, we cannot provide protection to a young girl," it's sad that this doesn't seem to be a big issue over there when this is a very serious issue. They have police and a form of government so they should be trying to help these women and stop these rapping’s from happening but, instead there are police officers that are the perpetrators raping these poor innocent women. A 23 year old student is now dead because two men decided to continuously rape and attack her. Days later doctors removed objects from her genitals such as candle pieces and a small bottle. The girls family claims that the police even bribed them to keep quiet about the situation. That is something that is completely not acceptable for officer officials to be trying to sweep something as serious as rape under the rug. The police spokesman for “New Delhi” says they are hiring more female officers but, with all this going on what woman in their right mind would want to work as a police officer and especially when male officers are some of the ones being accused of rape. It’s sad enough woman are getting rapped in the first place but, it’s not even just woman getting rapped little girls are getting rapped there have been reported rapes in girl ages 19,16,12,10 and even 5 years old. What is going to make this stop? It seems like these females have nowhere to turn since they are all living in fear and afraid of leaving their house. Is that a world anyone should have to wake up too?
